'If My people who bear My name, humble themselves and pray and seek My presence and turn from their wicked ways, I Myself will hear from Heaven and forgive their sins' (2 Chron. 7:14) – 'You will see that in prayer you will find more knowledge, more light, more strength, more grace and virtue than you could ever achieve by reading many books, or by great studies. Travelling sometimes brings us into danger, hence the custom of having special prayers to ask for God’s protection at the beginning of a journey. Prayer Before Travel. Lord Jesus Christ my God, be my Companion, guide and protector during my journey. Keep me from all danger, misfortune and temptation. By Your divine power grant me a peaceful and successful journey and safe arrival. Avoid traveling on Mondays, Wednesdays, and before noon on Fridays. Also, avoid traveling on the third, fifth, thirteenth, sixteenth, ([1]) twenty-first, twenty-fourth, and twenty-fifth of each month. Avoid traveling when the moon wanes and when it is in Scorpion.
May the Lord turn his face toward us and guide our feet into the way of peace, now and forever. Let us entrust those who are leaving to the hands of the Lord, who is the true end of all our journeys.
Let us pray he will bring theirs to a good end, and that as they travel they will recognise him in his creatures; that they will experience his goodness in the hospitality they receive, and be able to bring the Good News in return; that they will be courteous and cheerful on the way; that they will comfort and assist the poor and afflicted God places on their path. He is patron of boy scouts, and of soldiers going into battle or war.
They should invoke his protection frequently. Their lifestyle is very like their patron as he was the outdoor type of character. He did many good things as the Catholic boy scouts today.
Veneration of him comes from the East and he is regarded as a martyr. He is the patron of Christian armies. In Rome there is a sanctuary built in his honour named St George in Valabr.
Co-patron of boy scouts is St Martin of Tours, Feast Day November 8th, who died in 397 A.D. PRAYER: The motto of boy scouts is “be ready”.

May all of us be found ever ready to assist others, especially the old. God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, You gave Your Son, Jesus Christ, infinite power over all the forces that exist in the universe and on earth. Forgive all our mistakes and sins; free us from suffering and temptations, anxieties, discouragement and desperation, and take away the confusion in our head.
We also ask You to drive away all envy and falsity from the homes of our relatives and neighbours, and to protect them against fire, assaults and robbery. In Your infinite goodness, let our guardian angel watch over us at night so that we may tranquilly sleep and be refreshed. (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) God, replete with goodness, we ask You to impede all of the evil spirit’s diabolical actions against our family. Cast fear, heresy, drugs, insane customs and blasphemous spirits far away from us. Free our country from the scourge of inflation, the terrible consequence of our sins. In Your infinite goodness and mercy, through Your Word, give health in body, mind and spirit to the persons we recommend to You (mention the names).

FEAST DAY: DECEMBER 4th According to tradition, St Barbara was martyred at the end of the fourth century in Antioch under the emperor Maximian. St Barbara spent almost her entire life confined in the tower of a fortress. When he heard that she had been converted to the Christian faith even in confinement, her father, who was a pagan, not only denounced her but also condemned her to death. He himself was the executioner and cut off her head with a sword. Immediately afterwards, a terrible storm arose and the executioner was incinerated by a bolt of lightning.
PRAYER: St Barbara, you are stronger than the tower of a fortress and the fury of hurricanes. Do not let lightning hit me, thunder frighten me or the roar of canons jolt my courage or bravery.
Stay always by my side so that I may confront all the storms and battles of my life with my head held high and a serene countenance. Winning all the struggles, may I, aware of doing my duty, be grateful to you, my protector, and render thanks to God, the Creator of heaven, earth and nature who has the power to dominate the fury of the storm and to mitigate the cruelty of war.

Prayer isn’t a religious thing; it’s a legal thing. We are told to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) and that includes praying over our traveling! God watches over His Word, so let’s give Him something to work with by praying.
