    Dua Before Travelling

'If My people who bear My name, humble themselves and pray and seek My presence and turn from their wicked ways, I Myself will hear from Heaven and forgive their sins' (2 Chron. 7:14) – 'You will see that in prayer you will find more knowledge, more light, more strength, more grace and virtue than you could ever achieve by reading many books, or by great studies. Never consider as wasted the time you spend in prayer. You will discover that in prayer God communicates to you the light, strength and grace you need' (Sr Lucia dos Santos). Travelling sometimes brings us into danger, hence the custom of having special prayers to ask for God’s protection at the beginning of a journey. BLESSING OF TRAVELLERS: (All make the Sign of the Cross.) V.

Prayer Before Travel. Lord Jesus Christ my God, be my Companion, guide and protector during my journey. Keep me from all danger, misfortune and temptation. By Your divine power grant me a peaceful and successful journey and safe arrival. Avoid traveling on Mondays, Wednesdays, and before noon on Fridays. Also, avoid traveling on the third, fifth, thirteenth, sixteenth, ([1]) twenty-first, twenty-fourth, and twenty-fifth of each month. Avoid traveling when the moon wanes and when it is in Scorpion.

May the Lord turn his face toward us and guide our feet into the way of peace, now and forever. Let us entrust those who are leaving to the hands of the Lord, who is the true end of all our journeys.

Let us pray he will bring theirs to a good end, and that as they travel they will recognise him in his creatures; that they will experience his goodness in the hospitality they receive, and be able to bring the Good News in return; that they will be courteous and cheerful on the way; that they will comfort and assist the poor and afflicted God places on their path. Lord, send help from your sanctuary: R. Lord, have mercy. Lord, save your servants, for they hope in you: R.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.). O loving Lord and God, ever ready to listen to the prayers of thy servants, I most earnestly beseech thee to hearken to me. The Chaplet of St Anthony of Padua consists of thirteen Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorys in honour of the thirteen favours mentioned in the ‘Miraculous Responsory’ (see below). The following invocations may be used before each set of Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.

Most gracious St Anthony, keep me from sin and enable me to persevere in good. Great St Anthony, keep whatever is uncharitable far from me.

Dear St Anthony, make mine a true, lasting and vibrant faith. Good St Anthony, banish from my heart all that would cloud God’s love. Great St Anthony, encouraged by your gentleness, help me to grow in genuine conversion of heart. St Anthony, heal me. Obtain for me a true love of God and health of mind and soul. St Anthony, with my Guardian Angel, guide me through the perils of this life and keep me safe. St Anthony, protect me from the devil’s temptations and obtain for me God’s help.

St Anthony, healer of the sick, preserve my life and grant me blessings of good health. Saint of miracles, finder of lost things, help me to discover what is truly important in my life. St Anthony, my helper and friend of God, be my defence and security in times of doubt. St Anthony and friend of God, I ask your intercession at God’s throne for divine grace. St Anthony, I join with you now and with the whole company of heaven in praising the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever and ever.

THE MIRACULOUS RESPONSORY (“SI QUAERIS”) If then you ask for miracles, death, error, all calamities, leprosy and demons fly, and health succeeds infirmities. The sea obeys and fetters break, and lifeless limbs do you restore; while treasures lost are found again, when young and old your aid implore. All dangers vanish at your prayer, and direst need does quickly flee; let those who know your power proclaim, let Paduans say: these are of thee. To Father, Son, may glory be and Holy Spirit, eternally. Pray for us, blessed Anthony. Make us worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray: Lord God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, your Confessor and Doctor, be a source of joy for your people.

May they always be strengthened with his spiritual assistance and deserve eternal rewards. Through Christ our Lord. ST GEORGE, PATRON OF BOY SCOUTS – FEAST DAY: APRIL 23rd A martyr and Protector of England, St George has his Feast Day on April 23rd. St George lived around the year 303 A.D. He is patron of boy scouts, and of soldiers going into battle or war.

They should invoke his protection frequently. Their lifestyle is very like their patron as he was the outdoor type of character. He did many good things as the Catholic boy scouts today.

Veneration of him comes from the East and he is regarded as a martyr. He is the patron of Christian armies. In Rome there is a sanctuary built in his honour named St George in Valabr.

Co-patron of boy scouts is St Martin of Tours, Feast Day November 8th, who died in 397 A.D. PRAYER: The motto of boy scouts is “be ready”.

    Dua For Travelling In Car

May all of us be found ever ready to assist others, especially the old. God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, You gave Your Son, Jesus Christ, infinite power over all the forces that exist in the universe and on earth. Forgive all our mistakes and sins; free us from suffering and temptations, anxieties, discouragement and desperation, and take away the confusion in our head.

We also ask You to drive away all envy and falsity from the homes of our relatives and neighbours, and to protect them against fire, assaults and robbery. In Your infinite goodness, let our guardian angel watch over us at night so that we may tranquilly sleep and be refreshed. (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) God, replete with goodness, we ask You to impede all of the evil spirit’s diabolical actions against our family. Cast fear, heresy, drugs, insane customs and blasphemous spirits far away from us. Free our country from the scourge of inflation, the terrible consequence of our sins. In Your infinite goodness and mercy, through Your Word, give health in body, mind and spirit to the persons we recommend to You (mention the names).

Be compassionate with them, restoring health, courage, tranquillity and a taste for living in them so that we may give thanks to You with a soul overflowing with peace and joy. Through Jesus Christ, in the love of the Holy Spirit.

    Prayer

Bless the Lord, all ye His Angels! Thou who art mighty in strength and do His Will, intercede for me at the throne of God. By thine unceasing watchfulness, protect me in every danger of soul and body.

Obtain for me the grace of final perseverance, so that after this life, I may be admitted to thy glorious company and sing with thee the praises of God for all eternity. All ye holy Angels and Archangels, Thrones and Dominations, Principalities and Powers and Virtues of Heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, and especially thou, my dear Guardian Angel, intercede for me and obtain for me the special favour I now ask (mention your request). Offer the ‘Glory Be” three times.

ST BARBARA, VENERATED BY SOLDIERS AND INVOKED AS A PROTECTOR AGAINST LIGHTNING, STORMS, HURRICANES AND SUDDEN DEATH. ST BARBARA IS ONE OF THE FOURTEEN HOLY HELPERS OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. FEAST DAY: DECEMBER 4th According to tradition, St Barbara was martyred at the end of the fourth century in Antioch under the emperor Maximian. St Barbara spent almost her entire life confined in the tower of a fortress. When he heard that she had been converted to the Christian faith even in confinement, her father, who was a pagan, not only denounced her but also condemned her to death. He himself was the executioner and cut off her head with a sword. Immediately afterwards, a terrible storm arose and the executioner was incinerated by a bolt of lightning.

PRAYER: St Barbara, you are stronger than the tower of a fortress and the fury of hurricanes. Do not let lightning hit me, thunder frighten me or the roar of canons jolt my courage or bravery.

Stay always by my side so that I may confront all the storms and battles of my life with my head held high and a serene countenance. Winning all the struggles, may I, aware of doing my duty, be grateful to you, my protector, and render thanks to God, the Creator of heaven, earth and nature who has the power to dominate the fury of the storm and to mitigate the cruelty of war.

    St Barbara, pray for us.

Prayer isn’t a religious thing; it’s a legal thing. We are told to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) and that includes praying over our traveling! God watches over His Word, so let’s give Him something to work with by praying.

Here are scripture verses to pray over yourself and your trip: Traveling mercies Psalm 37:4-7 Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. (KJV) Deuteronomy 28:6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you shall say to this mountain ‘be removed and cast into the sea’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Right place at the right time Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delights in his way. Psalms 119:133 Direct my footsteps according to Your Word; let no sin rule over me. Proverbs 3:6 In all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths. Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Favor with those around us Psalms 5:12 The Lord surrounds the righteous with favor as a shield.

Proverbs 3:4 I find favor, good understanding and high esteem in the sight of God and man. Wisdom and guidance Proverbs 2:6-9 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths. Divine protection and appointment Psalm 91:10-11 Then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 121:7-8 The Lord will keep you from all harm–he will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Psalm 4:8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Walking in health Ephesians 2:10 I am God’s workmanship and a new person in Jesus Christ so that I can do the good things He planned for me long ago. 1 Peter 2:24 By His wounds you have been healed. Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy, too.

You will be like a well-watered garden like an ever-flowing spring. To be an ambassador for Christ Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. (NIV) Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer everyone.
